Whatever Else
Series of three broadsheets
co-published with As We Try & Sleep Press

Whatever Else recovers the single broadsheet as an alternative exhibition space. The broadsheets were quietly distributed throughout Winnipeg and elsewhere.

Issue 1: hannah_g, editor/curator, with contributions by Emily Doucet, Coral Maloney, Joshua Pearlman, Darren Stebeleski, Tanja Woloshen, Jaime Wright, and the Winnipeg Arcades Project.

hannah_g is a writer and multi-disciplinary artist based in Winnipeg. Narrative is at the heart of her practice, whether it’s in the magic realist stories she makes in response to environment and conversation or public space interventions created to spark ideas and dialogue about enchantment and social justice. hannah has used sound, storytelling, writing, collage, chalking, stencils, screenprinting, and postering to this end. She is co-director of aceartinc., an artist-run centre in Winnipeg.

Issue 2: Katherena Vermette, editor/poet, with contributions by Floyd Blackhorse, Kevin Lee Burton, Elizabeth Denny, Vanda Fleury, Christian Goulet, Erica Lowe, Amanda Smart, and Ela Vermette-Furst.

Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer of poetry and fiction. Her work has appeared in several literary magazines and anthologies, most recently Manitoapow: Stories from the Land of Water (Portage and Main Press 2012) and cv2 (Spring 2012). She is a long-time member of the Aboriginal Writers’ Collective of Manitoba, and is currently completing her Master of Fine Arts – Creative Writing at UBC. Her first collection of poetry is set for release by The Muses’ Company, Fall 2012.

Issue 3: Andrea Roberts, artist.

Andrea Roberts is a Winnipeg-based intermedia artist whose practice primarily employs sculpture and drawing to explore ideas of gender, embodiment, and failure. Roberts is also co-founder of Negative Space curatorial collective, performance space and gallery in Winnipeg. In 2011 she received her BFA (Honours) from the University of Manitoba. She will be relocating to San Francisco in the fall of 2012 to complete her MFA at the California College of the Arts.
